It’s also the noise a bird makes right before it flies into your intake.
An Indian Air Force Jaguar was lifting off from Ambala Air Station, north of Delhi, on June 27th when it collided with a flock of birds. I’m sure the panel lit up like a Christmas Tree, alerting the pilot he was now flying a rather inefficient glider, though I’m sure the noise tipped him off. Fortunately his training took over, and the pilot pickled off his stores: a pair of drop tanks and another pair of Carrier Bomb Light Stores (CBLS), which each can carry four practice bombs or other small-diameter stores. The IAF wouldn’t confirm or deny what the CBLS were armed with, but the end result was the same: Boom.
The pilot was able to circle back around and land the crippled airplane, and there were no reports of injuries or damage (though that flight suit is probably a lost cause).
